#246 - Riddermark
GG Crono says:
First comment again. I'm on a roll!
Anywho...looks like Sir Mark isn't the sharpest bulb in the drawer, if you get me. ;)
*bonks head* sir mark is sooo dense. but i like the name. thats funny.
if mark isnt careful, then ayne is gonna smack him one. poor guy. i -almost- feel sorry for him
ohyeah. side note.... ayne looks demonic in frame 4!
I don't get the riddermark joke. What *is* a riddermark? Anywho, uh...there's smoke rising behind the group in panel 3, perhaps from the dragons that Mark is *really* looking for?
here's a question.......where is Feiht?
Probably in the squire's bag looking for something especially shiny. *Shudders at the thought of a pixie with a weapon*
Actually, the swedish word for knight is riddare. If one would use it as a title, I think that Riddar Mark would work just fine. Mark, in swedish, means ground, but it could also be translated as land I believe. Just some fun info.
Actually... "Ridder" is the Danish word for "knight", and "Mark" is (in Danish, again) either a name or the word for "field"...
The only place I can remember hearing the word "Riddermark" was in Lord of the Rings as they used it to adress the Rohirim, so I think it may be a large group of knights... Is that true?
Otherwise, good comic. Love the details, specially the typhoon in the background. And Leaf and Myhrad look really helpless and innocent.
The scandies have it right. Riddermark is like a kingdom, but ran by knights. The best-known one in fanatsy literature is the Riddermark Rohan from lord of the rings.
Empress catriona of the Cat People says:
Can I give Feiht lots of sugar and see what happens?
I got the Riddermark joke, (insert LotR/Middle Earth freak look here). I wonder what dragon they're on about, because I bet there's another dragon that *isn't* Myhrad blocking a different pass- see smoke-cloud in frames 5 and 3... maybe a dragon just fried soemthing....
Empress catriona of the Cat People says:
Is that smoke or a tornado??
Wow, Ayne looks real motherly/ protective in frame 5.
Still no Feiht *sigh* but on the upside a posiblity of more Dragons. Yeah!
Aha! I thought that "riddermark" *sounded* familiar, but I couldn't place where I knew it from. I haven't been able to see or read any LOTR stuff for a while. *sigh* Sadness.
This has been bugging me for a while, but could you please give Leaf some pants? It's gotta be cold down there.....
No -Empress Catriona, You MAY NOT give Feiht sugar. You KNOW what happens when you give pixies or Sprites sugar... :))
Love the Protective stance in frame 5! (Go ahead Sir Mark- TRY and hurt her loved ones- You WILL regret it.)
I don't think there was a dragon until Myhrad showed up. They probably just wanted to get rid of him, so they made up some suitably 'knightish' task to send him on.
Ridder Mark hee hee....
Just for the records, ridder is knight in Norwegian too. And Mark can mean both field and worm!
So Mark's father wanted to start a knight worm! :p
so Ridder Mark is like a skin-deep knight. like he has everything that a knight should have from a distance (bearded flunkie, olde worlde speech, shinee sword) but on the inside isn't the real thing...?
but i may be digging too deep. i've only seen like three pages of him so far anyways.
Scandi-lands fo' LIFE! Doesn't it suck how all those ignorants out there say us Norwegians are from Norwegia?!?! That's always bugged me, I mean c'mon, Norwegians are from Norway. Everyone knows that.
I though Leaf was the older one! He looks so much like a child in this strip!
So Sir Mark is also a Knight-Ridder?
And Glaswegians are from Glasway???
catriona I think it's a tornado
What the heck's a Glaswegian?!
somebody from Glasgow's my guess
Sir Mark is not the brightest light on the Hannukah tree.
But he has good timing.
I don like him he a skary man... MOMMY TELL THE SKARY MAN TO LEAVE THE POOR WIDDLE DWAGON ALONE
There's nothing here yet. There will be, but right now, there isn't.
